Memory Line

Notes

I do have a few obsessions in life, one of which is railways. I wrote this in the late 1970’s, after watching Stanier "Black Five" no. 44767 (in preservation carrying the name "George Stephenson"), forging northwards through Stirling station. It’s fast-paced, in keeping with a mainline express; and I was quite pleased with the lyrics. The railways have really undergone a resurgence in the years since then; few could have predicted just how vibrant the heritage scene would become, and lines are even being reopened - including our own Alloa branch.
Perhaps predictably, almost everyone miscalls this "Memory Lane"....
