It was suggested recently that a new set of lyrics, to the well-known tune of “Highland Cathedral”, might serve as an appropriate anthem for Scotland. This was my response. I have tried to avoid the military references and triumphalism (and even the bonnie purple heather!) that characterise certain other suggested anthems: and there is no intention to champion the cause of independence – this would apply to our land as a part of the UK, Europe, the World, or Whatever.
